Floreat Greyfriars! (1965, re-released 1976)

The Comet

Four Square Books

This long playing record consisted of a series of short talks by Charles Hamilton, with music specially composed for the occasion.

On side one, entitled Greyfriars Remembered, this meant a series of comments on Harry Wharton, Billy Bunter, Hurree Singh, Fisher T. Fish, and Vernon-Smith, with Nigel Anthony reading extracts from a number of Magnet and post war Bunter stories.

Side two, entitled personal reminiscences, had Charles Hamilton talking about his early days as a writer, his characters, gambling, and current occupations. Most of the short pieces were separated by brief snatches of incidental music; and the record started and finished with a Greyfriars school song.

The record was re-released in 1976 in conjunction with the Howard Baker press, to celebrate the centenary of Charles Hamilton’s birth. The track listing are below: click on the link to play or right click and choose "save target as" to download and listen to off-line. Enjoy!
