The Boys Friend 3d Library consisted of (usually) 4 volumes published each month, comprising reprints of stories previously published in several instalments in the weekly boys' papers (The Boy's Friend, The Modern Boy, Pluck, The Gem and Magnet serial stories, etc.) A complete list of the Boys Friend Library volumes and sources can be found at friardale.co.uk
Several Nelson Lee stories were reprinted in this series, though the Schoolboys Own Library and the Monster Library also reprinted a number of stories about Nelson Lee at St. Frank's that were originally published in the Nelson Lee Library. Note that all of the early BFL stories were written by Maxwell Scott; and that R W Comrade was in fact a pseudonym of Edwy Searles Brooks.
